3228, SALEM MONKEY  9'' H SEATED  is also known as a Japan or Snow Monkey is actually a Japanese Macaque.  A Salem Monkey was nearly cast to play Yoda in Star Wars.  They are anatomically scaled to create the best reproduction of the life size stuffed animal and the most realistic stuffed animal in the industry.

Japan Monkey, The Japanese Macaque, also known as the Snow Monkey, is a terrestrial Old World monkey species native to Japan. It is the most northern-living as well as the most polar-living primate other than humans. In Japan, it was historically known as Saru ("monkey"). Nihonzaru ("Japan" + Saru) is used in modern times to distinguish it from other primates. Individuals have brown-gray fur, a red face, and a short tail.

• Macaques are excellent swimmers.
• In snowy areas Japanese macaques sleep up in deciduous trees to avoid snow falling on them.
• Macaques make different sounds for different situations: warning, defense, mating, and fighting.
• Young macaques play with stones, fight and swing in trees. When there is snow around, they will make snowballs, rolling them about until they become too large or break up.
• They wash their food before eating it. Only humans and raccoons do the same.
• One way Japanese macaques cope with the cold is to soak in volcanic hot springs, spending about 30 minutes per day in them. This practice was first observed about 40 years. A monkey had seen humans soaking in the hot springs, and passed the idea on to the troop.
